Cities such as Sao Paulo & Brasilia, on the plateau, have a mild climate with temperatures averaging 66°F (19°C). Rio de Janeiro, Recife, Natal and Salvador on the coast have warmer climates bal anced by the Trade Winds. Rio, for example, has an average temperature of around 80°F (26°C), which will climb to over 100°F (38°C) during the summer months, between December and February. In the southern Brazilian cities of Porto Alegre and Curitiba, the subtropical climate is similar to parts of the US and Europe, with frosts occurring in the winter months, between July and August, when temperatures can fall below freezing. Summers are hot, however. Despite the popular image of the Amazon as a region of blistering heat, temperatures rarely rise above 90°F (32°C), and days are generally warm, wet and humid. The region has two seasons: a rainy season (November to May) and not-so-rainy season (June to October).
The fact that Brazil has a very mixed population also aggregates value to the scenes shot here. There’s a lot of different faces in this country and the ethnic miscegenation that their integration provided created an interesting variety of physical appearances. For example, Sao Paulo has the largest Japanese community outside Japan.
In Brazil the actors charge a daily fee per shooting (services) separately from the charges associated with the broadcasting rights. We have RATE CARDS for the daily fees and for the broadcasting rights fees. There are no buyouts in Brazil; from their original contract, actors only accept up to 3 medias, from the 4th media additional costs may be considered.
Most camera equipment is Arri. Cranes, dollies, remote heads, stabilized heads, camera-cars and shot-makers are all available to the highest standard. Although there are some options for motion control and stabilized camera mounts, there is no Spacecam or real Moco gear.
